How to achieve quasi-real visualisation?

Post by Bichuch »

Hello!
Our installation will consist of many (hundreds) of simple dumb RGB ledstrips, each of them from 2 to 5 metres long, with various orientation in the space. In such a way, preview in form of rectangle array of square RGB pixels (one pixel = one ledstrip) is not very useful for content creation...
So, what are possibilities to see more realistic visualisation?
May be you can advise some additional applications for this?

Right, for this Kind of Visualisation other Software is made for.
Just a view i have in mind:
- WYSIWYG (MADRIX is WYSIWYG enabled)
- Capture
- LightConverse
LEDs are nothing without control ;-)

Thank you.
Now I have read about WYSIWYG. As I can see, it's version for realtime visualisation (i.e. "Perform") is very expensive...
But Capture has a free "Student" version, that supports 2 DMX universes in realtime!
So, the ideal variant should be Madrix + Capture on one dual-monitor computer for content development.
Is it possible without any DMX hardware?

If Capture speaks Art-Net like LightConverse does, it could be possible, but have not done so far by us.

Have you used LightConverse with MADRIX on dual-monitor PC?
* * *
The real computer uses physical output to ledstrips through USBones.
And if content development is performed through Art-Net, how should we configure?
Which MADRIX files should be transfered between machines, and which types should not?

No sorry, i have no experience with it. We developed the Interface for WYSYWYG but i have personal not worked with it. Also with capture and LightConverse i have no own experience. I just know LightConverse is able to work with Art-Net. Because Art-Net is a network protocol it could be possible using this without USB DMX Interfaces for example.
